Ludwika Alvarez manages government relations for Sorini, Samet & Associates, where she develops and implements tailored advocacy strategies for clients, related to policy and legislation, to advance their global trade interests and competitiveness. She advocates on behalf and represents client’s trade interests before the U.S. Congress, Administration, business community and non-governmental organizations. Ms. Alvarez also works on international labor and social responsibility issues.
Prior to joining SS&A, Ms. Alvarez worked at the Office of Southeast Asia and Pacific Affairs at the United States Trade Representative (USTR). While at the USTR, she supported the staff in ongoing U.S.-Malaysia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and various U.S. Trade and Investment Framework Agreements (TIFAs) negotiations. She also assisted the Assistant USTR in developing and coordinating the preliminary intra-agency analysis of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), which supported the Administration’s decision to participate in the new regional negotiations.
Prior to USTR, Ms. Alvarez worked at the Trade Department at the Delegation for the European Commission in Washington, DC. At the Delegation, Ms. Alvarez researched and analyzed U.S. and EU trade-related topics, reported on developments in variety of industry sectors, and reported on U.S. policy and legislative agenda related to trade with Asia and Africa.
Ms. Alvarez also spent two years working on terrorism and security issues for the Co-Chairman of the Center for Terrorism, Counter-Terrorism and Homeland Security at the Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI). She also studied with the Fund for American Studies and Georgetown University in Czech Republic and Hong Kong and attended the Jean Monnet International Summer Program in Italy. She is fluent in Polish.
